Mariecke Borger
Mariecke Borger is an incredibly talented Dutch singer-songwriter. Her music was born out of a back porch in Nashville, but her roots track back to an artistic household in the Netherlands. With her single "Heartbeat," Mariecke asks herself what if everything she needs has been with her all along?

This song is a standout piece from her third studio album, “Unravel”, a project born out of a brief, magical period of autumn inspiration at her piano. Co-produced and recorded alongside her husband, Floris de Vries, the album is a masterclass in folk and Americana storytelling.

"Heartbeat" is where Borger rejects the obsession with external validation and embraces a terrifying but liberating moment where she finally decides to trust her own gut. She’s not asking for anyone’s permission and takes total ownership of her path. She found out the only compass that actually matters is internal.

She held on to false hopes, fake comfort, and other people’s expectations because she was afraid of change and uncertainty. But when she found the courage to let go, she chose freedom instead. She snapped out of the illusion and stopped trying to force a fantasy to work. Instead of fighting to keep those imaginary castles floating, she chose reality.

Mariecke’s self-love in this song goes beyond her scars; she refuses to let them be the final chapter. She stops letting her past trauma set the rules for her future and reclaims that unburdened ground where she can trust herself and be herself.

In "Heartbeat," her transformation is presented as an inspiration.
