Paulo Lara

"A Space of Lightning Blue" is the title track of Paulo’s album. Released in June 2025, it serves as the centrepiece for his upcoming full-length project, set to arrive in September 2026. It is produced by Juliano Cortuah, a heavyweight in the industry and a Latin Grammy nominee known for his work with top-tier Brazilian artists.

This is a bilingual art rock project that combines indie rock with a global soul, specifically Paulo’s cultural duality as a Brazilian-American. Mixing such a sound gives us something ambitious and experimental that you don't get in standard radio pop.

To begin with, "A Space of Lightning Blue" describes a beautiful process of growing up and moving on. It’s a metaphor for that moment of clarity where you decide to stop letting your past hurt define who you are. Basically, it’s that uncomfortable middle ground we all hit, a phase where your old life doesn’t fit anymore, but you haven’t figured out your new life yet.

The music can be described as a massive, lightning-filled wall of sound, bringing together acoustic and electric guitars, drums and bass, and keys. It has a searching phase where things get quiet and blue, and a thriving phase that sounds intense and uplifting. It’s strongly tied to how the vocals and harmonies are delivered, shaping the meaning as the song progresses.

Think of "A Space of Lightning Blue" as that moment when you are stuck in a dark room, and someone suddenly flips the light switch. For a second, everything is bright, shocking, and clear. It’s about transcendence, a state of mind where we accept our sadness, embrace our past echoes, and intentionally choose to flourish in the high-voltage tension of being alive.
