Raging Lines

Raging Lines is a solo project by Sondre Thomassen Thorvik, a 24-year-old multi-instrumentalist and musicology master’s student, whose debut album, Smile Blank, was released on February 19, 2026. One of the standout tracks from this debut album is the song "Yamaha 237." With that, we also have a music video for it, which was filmed at the centre of Oslo.

The music is an engineered balance of melody and atmosphere, built on Sondre’s philosophy of using lines that move at different speeds. Post-Punk is used as a foundation with the airy, synth-heavy textures of New Wave. The balance of tension and vulnerability is the theme of this song, which is further portrayed with contrast, heartbreak and loss in a really natural way. It’s the kind of music that feels good because it’s real, not because it’s cheerful.

Sondre uses very few words to create big, heavy feelings. Instead of telling a long story, he uses snapshots of emotions. He describes a world that looks beautiful, like crystal, but feels weak, fake or watered down, like numbness that many people feel in modern life. Nothing feels exciting and real anymore. There’s a feeling of stagnation that lurks in those words.

"Yamaha 237" describes the loss of innocence by mentioning how children today grow up too fast and are exposed to the harshness of the world before they even learn how to take care of themselves. It's a world that is upside down. And it continues through grief and secrets, loneliness and absence, trying to break out of a cold, industrial atmosphere of modern life.
